Asymmetric synthesis of optically active spiroacetals from alkynyl glycols catalyzed by gold complex/Brønsted acid binary system

An asymmetric catalytic synthesis of optically active spiroacetals from alkynyl glycols has been well established by using gold complex/Brønsted acid binary system in relay manner. A wide range of spiroacetals were obtained in good yields and with high enantioselectivities.
