Helical polycyclic aromatics containing thiophenes: synthesis and properties

A series of planar and non-planar (helical) thiophene-based polycyclic aromatics has been synthesized through the Diels-Alder reaction followed by decarbonylation reactions and FeCl3 oxidative cyclizations.
