Structural revision of shatavarins I and IV, the major components from the roots of Asparagus racemosus

The structural revision of two major steroidal saponins, shatavarins I and IV, from the roots of Asparagus racemosus is reported. The correct structures have been identified through a combination of 1D (1H, 13C, DEPT, TOCSY) and 2D (COSY, HSQC, HMBC) NMR.
