Preparation and characterization of boron nitride coatings on carbon fibers from borazine by chemical vapor deposition

► Turbostratic or hexagonal BN coatings were successfully deposited by CVD using borazine. ► The coating uniformly and perfectly surrounds the individual fibers within the bundles. ► The coatings are smooth and compact. ► A diffusion of carbon from the fiber to the coatings occurred at the fiber/coating interfacial zone.
