• Signal processing algorithms on Hall sensor signals are proposed to overcome the problems of winding switching of motors.
• These schemes both protect the related hardware and preserve the torque/speed performance during configuration changeover.
• The method of frequency-independent phase shifting raises the resolution of Hall signals to improve system performance.
The methods of winding switching over for various motor configurations have extensively been proposed in the literature to provide enough torque and speed for vehicles. However, some problems occurred during changeover operation. In the paper, three signal processing algorithms, 30-degree phase shift emulation, novel changeover technique, and frequency-independent phase shifting, on Hall sensor signals are proposed to overcome the related problems. These schemes both protect the related hardware and preserve the torque/speed performance. The experimental results will demonstrate the effectiveness.
Based on the signals of Hall-effect sensors and signal processing techniques, the motor with variable windings can smoothly finished the changeover between wye and delta configurations.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
