Thermodynamic and kinetic stability of magnesium dication solvated by tetramethylethylenediamine

► Using DFT-BMK, we examine stability of the Mg2+TMEDA complex. ► The complex is thermodynamically and kinetically stable. ► This stability ensures possibility of existence of the complex in the gas phase. ► The Mg2+TMEDA complex could be observed under appropriate experimental conditions.
