RIXS investigations of liquids, solutions, and liquid/solid interfaces

► Review of the experimental approach for investigating gases, liquids, and solutions with soft X-ray techniques. ► Gas and liquid cells as well as a high-resolution, high-transmission X-ray spectrometer are discussed. ► By using some examples, we show how detailed information about the electronic structure of liquids, and gases is gained.
