First principle study of the properties of a Cylindrical Sector Analyzer: Complete calculation of the electron trajectory

► The complete electron trajectory in a cylindrical field is calculated. ► The CSA is a good analyzer in terms of transmission and energy resolution. ► The best parameters for an analyzer construction are: entrance angle of θC = 45°; Source and detector slits ΔX > ΔZ; angular apertures Δθ > Δα > ΔZ; azimuthal aperture Δϕ as wide as possible; Source located at the cylinder axis; ratio between inner radius and source dimension as large as possible.
