Investigations of MgO:Li,Gd thermally and optically stimulated luminescence

► MgO:Gd,Li with high intensity optically stimulated luminescence was developed. ► Luminescence is related to 315 nm emission from Gd3+. ► Optimum dopant concentrations and annealing temperature are reported. ► Room temperature fading of optically stimulated luminescence remains a problem.
