Observations of energy transfer and anisotropic behavior in ZnO nanoparticles surface-modified by liquid-crystalline ligands

► Successful fabrication of a novel nano-level hybrid of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) and liquid crystals (LCs) was reported. ► Enhanced ultra-violet emission and increased optical anisotropy of zno were observed in such a hybrid system.
