Luminescence investigations on sulfate apatite Na6(SO4)2FCl:RE (RE=Dy, Ce or Eu) phosphors

► A new phosphor in the Cl-F system doped with Dy, Ce and Eu is reported. ► Na6(SO4)2FCl:Dy Ce and Eu prepared by the ssd method have been studied for its PL and TL. ► The emission of Eu ion in this compound exhibits the blue as well as red emission. ► Trapping parameters such as (b), (E) and (s) were calculated. ► It should be suitable as a phosphor in dosimetry of ionizing radiations and TLD material.
