Near-infrared emission bands of Er3+-doped YAP and LSO crystals

► Er-doped YAP and LSO crystals are analyzed using the Judd-Ofelt method. ► Near-infrared transition channels of Er ions in YAP and LSO crystals are verified. ► Processes and dynamics are discussed and compared with each other. ► ∼1520 nm emission increases with temperature for both crystals. ► ∼850, ∼980 and ∼1230 nm emissions are also temperature dependent.
