Improved O2 sensing performance by modifying P-P ligand in [Cu(N-N)(P-P)] complex

► A phosphorescent Cu(I) complex is synthesized and doped into MCM-41 matrix. ► Its crystal structure and photophysical property are studied. ► The yellow emission is sensitive towards molecular oxygen. ► A maximum sensitivity of 7.31 with short response time is realized.
