A novel blue-emitting Ir(III) complex with short excited state lifetime: Synthesis, structure, photophysical property, and electrophosphorescence performance

► A blue-emitting Ir complex is synthesized and characterized. ► The photophysical property and molecular structure are investigated. ► The blue emission changes from deep blue to bluish green upon addition of various solvents. ► A maximum electroluminance of 8820 cd/m2 peaking at 494 nm is achieved.
