Enhancing the performance of polymer light-emitting diode via methanol treatment

►Enhanced performance of the polymer light-emitting diode (PLED) was realized by performing methanol treatment on the emissive layer. With methanol treatment, the PLED's electron current increased owing to the rougher surface topography of the emissive layer. ►Rougher surface corresponds to larger contact area with cathode, leading to more efficient electron injection. Therefore, the balance between electron and hole current was improved. ►Experimental results show that the device turn-on voltage was lowered because of the reduced injection barrier.
