Synthesis and luminescence of La2BaZnO5 phosphors

► A modified synthesis of La2BaZnO5 phosphors is reported. ► New Results on photoluminescence of Sm3+, Pr3+ and Bi3+ reported. ► 240 nm excitation found for Sm3+, Pr3+ and Tb3+. ► Luminescence of Sm3+, Pr3+ and Tb3+ is host sensitized.
