Photoluminescence and decay behavior of Tb3+ ions in sodium fluoro-borate glasses for display devices

► Judd-Ofelt theory is applied to evaluate the radiative properties of 5D4 level. ► Resonant energy transfer is responsible for ΣI(5D3) quench and ΣI(5D4) enhancement. ► 1.0 mol% Tb3+-doped SFB glass is suitable for intense green color display devices.
