Anisotropic optical absorption in quantum well wires induced by high-frequency laser fields

► Anisotropic linear and nonlinear optical absorptions for light propagating along the wire axis are predicted. ► Extra excited subband states appear for sufficiently large values of the laser intensity. ► Saturation intensity depends on the incident radiation polarization and laser parameter.
