Metal particles in the nanometre size range demonstrate physical properties that are dissimilar from both the ion and the bulk material. It has been proposed that ionic silver strongly interacts with thiol groups of vital enzymes and inactivates them. In the present work, Silica (0.5 ml and 1 ml TEOS) coated silver (Ag@SiO2) core/shell nanoparticles were synthesized by Stober method. The synthesized nanoparticles were investigated by using many techniques. X-ray diffraction-analysis shows that Ag core cubic structure (fcc) and SiO2 in tetragonal with primitive. Morphology and EDS measurements confirm core/shell structure with nano-level particle size and confirm that the elemental analysis consists of SiO2 shell and Ag core from FESEM. Electrical conductivity studies (Cole-Cole plots, activation energy, dielectric constant and dielectric loss) were carried out using impedance spectroscopy, and the synthesized nanoparticles show controllable grain size as well as electrical properties.
