Mild basic ionic liquid catalyzed four component synthesis of functionalized benzo[a]pyrano[2,3-c]phenazine derivatives

► Benzo[a]pyrano[2,3-c]phenazine derivatives were synthesized. ► The one-pot four component reaction was reported. ► Six mild basic ionic liquids were used as catalysts. ► The products were synthesized using ionic liquids for the first time. ► The reactions were carried out under green solvent-free conditions.
