Solvatochromatic shift of absorption and fluorescence spectra of 6-methoxyquinoline: Estimation of ground and excited state dipole moments

► Solvatochromic shift method has been used to estimate the excited state dipole moments of protonated and neutral 6-methoxyquinoline. ► Higher values of dipole moments have been observed for excited state compared to ground state. ► Attributed to more polar excited states of molecules.
