Solvent mediated interactions for the selective recovery of Cadmium from Ni-Cd battery waste

► Developed a hydrometallurgical process to recover all the metals from spent Ni-Cd batteries. ► Cd was selectively extracted by D2EHPA and stripped with dilute H2SO4. ► Regenerated solvent showed good hydrolytic stability and extraction efficiency on recycling. ► Pure metals can be produced without any metallic losses unlike pyrometallurgical processes.
