On the ground and excited state dipole moments of dansylamide from solvatochromic shifts of absorption and fluorescence spectra

► Dipole moments of dansylamide are determined by solvatochromic shift method. ► Results are verified using solvent polarity parameter ETN. ► Results indicate a more polar excited state, which may be due to the charge transfer character.
