Fluorescence characteristics of 5-aminoquinoline in acetonitrile: Water

► Spectral properties of 5-aminoquinoline in acetonitrile:water mixture are reported. ► Fluorescence characteristics are sensitive to hydrogen bond donating capability of the solvent. ► Hydrogen bonding appears to be responsible for quenching in the presence of water.
