A 43Ca and 13C NMR study of the chemical interaction between poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) and white cement during hydration

► Natural abundance calcium-43 NMR was used to study commercial cement. ► The hydrolysis of an important admixture in cement was followed by carbon-13 NMR. ► The admixture hydrolysis time scale was found to be 6 days. ► The structural changes of cement in the presence of admixture were detected.
