Methanol-driven structuring of Au-Pt bimetallic nanoclusters on a thin film of Al2O3/NiAl(100)

► Methanol on supported Au-Pt intermixed bimetallic clusters induced a segregation of Au from Pt. ► Ethanol and cyclohexene were adsorbed on Au-Pt bimetallic clusters for comparisons. ► The interaction of the hydroxyl group of methanol with the clusters accounts for the structural modifications.
