Characterization of self-assembled ordered ZnO nanowire networks applied to photodetection

This work develops a simple and cost-effective fabrication strategy for self-assembly growth of ordered ZnO nanowire networks for use in photodetection applications. Using a pre-existing laterally seed layer as a nucleation site for further growth in the face-to-face direction by hydrothermal decomposition enhances the site specificity and pattern selection in large-scale fabrication of nanowire-based integrated devices. Experimental results indicate that site-specific growth suppresses the growth kinetics of one-dimensional structures, which increases compressive stress across the nanowire intersection and significantly affects electrical transport and photosensitivity characteristics.
