The boundaries of soft magnetic composites reveal their complexity in compression and bending tests at the micro-scale

Soft Magnetic Composites (SMC) consist of pure iron particles with a phosphorous layer and iron oxide layers between them. The layers determine the mechanical properties of the SMC and are analyzed by micro-compression and micro-bending. They exhibit a clear strengthening effect in compression and a weakening effect in bending.
