A NiS-H3Mo12O40P (PMo12) composite counter electrode was successfully fabricated by periodic potential reversal method. Up to now, it is the first time that NiS-PMo12 composite counter electrode was fabricated and was used in dye-sensitized solar cells. The scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were applied to study the morphology and component. The cyclic voltammetry and Tafel polarization measurement results show that the electrocatalytic ability for I3â reduction of the composite counter electrode is comparable to that of a Pt counter electrode. The enhanced efficiency is benefit from the high electrocatalytic activity and electron mobility of the PMo12. In addition, the composite counter electrode possess low cost.
