Abdominal segment deformity syndrome (asds) and fused body segment deformity (fbsd) in cultured Penaeus indicus

Shrimp is a major aquaculture commodity in the world but the industry has always struggled because of disease outbreaks. Abdominal segment deformity disease (ASDD) is a Penaeus vannamei disease recently reported. Similar pathological signs were observed in tank and pond cultured Penaeus indicus in the Philippines. This paper provided the first information on the abdominal segment deformity syndrome and fused body segment deformity in P. indicus. Data on the prevalence, morphometric characteristics and influence of sourced (captive or wild broodstock) were presented in this study.
