Gender differences in management and clinical outcomes of atrial fibrillation patients

There are significant gender differences in baseline demographics and clinical outcomes of AF patients. Women have higher mortality and ischemic strokes and are less often prescribed anticoagulation therapy despite higher CHADS2 scores. These data have important clinical implications.
