L'atrophie corticale postérieure

Posterior cortical atrophy (PCA) is a rare neurodegenerative syndrome characterised by a progressive decline in visuoperceptual, visuo-spatial, and praxic functions. Visual symptoms include simultanagnosia, hemispatial neglect, optic ataxia, alexia and visual agnosia, while memory and execution capacities remain preserved for a long time. Neuroimaging usually shows atrophic or metabolic changes in the posterior cerebral regions. As PCA is usually related to Alzheimer's disease, it has been considered as a “visual variant of Alzheimer's disease”.
