Rat hippocampal somatostatin sst3 and sst4 receptors mediate anticonvulsive effects in vivo: Indications of functional interactions with sst2 receptors

► Sst receptor subtype-mediated anticonvulsant effects are species-dependent. ► Rat hippocampal sst3 and sst4 receptors mediate in vivo anticonvulsant effects. ► Sst3 and sst4 receptors seem to interact functionally with sst2 receptors in rats. ► Sst3 antagonism did not alter sst2 or somatostatin-14-mediated anticonvulsant action.
