Effect of overexpression of human SR-AI on oxLDL uptake and apoptosis in 293T cells

► We constructed a cell model for the over-expression of SR-AI in human 293T cells in vitro. ► Overexpression of SR-AI in 293T cells led to increased oxLDL uptake and binding. ► Overexpression of SR-AI in 293T cells leads to pro-atherogenic changes. ► Overexpression of SR-AI induced cell apoptosis by downregulation of Bcl-2 expression and upregulation of Bak-1 expression.
