FK506 ameliorates renal injury in early experimental diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin

► We establish diabetes model of rats induced with streptozotocin. ► We examine whether FK506, a calcineurin inhibitor, inhibits progression of diabetic nephropathy in experimental diabetic rats. ► FK506 could ameliorate renal injury in early experimental diabetic rats though suppression on increased calcineurin in renal tissue.
