The antitumoral effect of the American mistletoe Phoradendron serotinum (Raf.) M.C. Johnst. (Viscaceae) is associated with the release of immunity-related cytokines

This study demonstrates for the first time that Phoradendron serotinum extract exerts immunimodulatory effects in vitro, induces moderate toxic effects in vivo and exerts toxic and apoptotic effects on TC-1 cells. The results suggest that antitumoral effects of PSE are related with the production of immunity-related cytokines.177
