Evaluation of the genotoxic potential of standardized extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra (GutGard™)

► Glycyrrhiza glabra is widespread throughout the world for various therapeutic applications. ► GutGard™, a standardized flavonoid rich de-glycyrrhizinated extract of G. glabra root. ► GutGard™ was evaluated for possible mutagenicity using standard battery of genotoxicity tests. ► GutGard™ did not exhibit mutagenic effect in TA98 and TAMix strains of Salmonella typhimurium. ► GutGard™ did not increase the chromosomal aberrations or micronucleus formation in CHO-K1 cells.
