Reactivity of bisphenol A-3,4-quinone with DNA. A quantum chemical study

► BPA possess estrogenic activity and is one of the most thoroughly studied endocrine disruptors. ► Genotoxic and carcinogenic properties of BPA are still not precisely investigated. ► Metabolically activated BPA is known to be able to bind DNA. ► The chemical reactivity of the bisphenol A-3,4-quinone with deoxyguanosine was calculated. ► Michael addition of the deoxyguanosine to bisphenol A-3,4-quinone is essential for genotoxicity.
