Local topological analysis at the distal radius by HR-pQCT: Application to in vivo bone microarchitecture and fracture assessment in the OFELY study

► This study assessed 33 patients with wrist fracture and their age-matched controls. ► Local topological analysis was applied to the trabecular bone at the distal radius. ► Local topological analysis is feasible on HR-pQCT images at 82 μm resolution. ► The rod/plate ratio illustrates the conversion from plates to rods during bone loss. ► Topological parameters are associated with wrist fractures.
