Socioeconomic status over the life-course and adult bone mineral density: The Midlife in the U.S. Study

► U.S. adults with relative socioeconomic advantage during childhood and/or more adult education had higher bone density in the lumbar spine. ► Childhood socioeconomic advantage, adult education level, and adult financial advantage were not significantly associated with femoral neck bone density. ► Current adult financial advantage was not associated with either hip or lumbar spine bone density. ► Childhood socioeconomic factors may affect the acquisition of lumbar spine bone mass.
