Fibronectin inhibits cytokine production induced by CpG DNA in macrophages without direct binding to DNA

► Fibronectin inhibits CpG motif-dependent cytokine production in macrophages. ► Fibronectin does not bind to pDNA in the presence of divalent cations. ► Integrin α5β1 does not involved in the inhibitory effect of fibronectin. ► Fibronectin does not affect the cellular uptake of pDNA. ► Fibronectin and pDNA are colocalized in the same intracellular compartment.
