Hybrid SiO2-coated nanocrystal-based heterostructures: Assembly, morphology transition, and photoluminescence at room temperature

► Hybrid SiO2-coated nanocrystal-based heterosturctures fabricated at room temperature. ► The heterosturctures exhibited belt-like fibers, solid fibers, and long nanowires. ► The heterosturctures consisted of hybrid SiO2-coated CdTe nanocrystals, SiO2, and thioglycolic acid. ► The morphological evolution of the heterostructure is ascribed to the concentration dependence of the growth kinetics.
