Biomimetic nanocomposites of carboxymethyl cellulose-hydroxyapatite: Novel three dimensional load bearing bone grafts

- Synthesized a biomimetic 3D porous CMC-HA nanocomposites.
- The CMC controls the HA particles size in the range of 15-50 nm.
- Self assembly assists the formation of mechanically strong (2-12 MPa) 3D structure.
- Ionic/polar interaction is the key for formation of 3D porous nanocomposites.
- Nanocomposites are cytocompatible for bone marrow mesenchymal cells.
