Interaction profile of Zizyphus jujuba with phenytoin, phenobarbitone, and carbamazepine in maximal electroshock‐induced seizures in rats

► Zizyphus jujuba potentiated the antiepileptic effect of phenytoin and phenobarbitone. ► No change in antiepileptic effect of carbamazepine was observed with Z. jujuba. ► Z. jujuba with sub-therapeutic doses of these AEDs prevented cognitive impairment. ► Z. jujuba reversed the seizure-induced oxidative stress. ► Z. jujuba did not alter the serum concentrations of these AEDs.
