Melatonin secretion in children with epilepsy

► We examined melatonin (MLT) system in children and adolescents with epilepsy. ► Circadian rhythm of MLT system was preserved in children with epilepsy. ► Subgroup of children with epilepsy had very high nocturnal salivary MLT peaks. ► MLT concentrations had no relation to seizure characteristics. ► Findings raise question of the nature of relation between the MLT and epilepsy.
