Sexual desire and satisfaction after resective surgery in patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis

► We inquired the sexual behavior of married males with MTLE-HS. ► Compared to control subjects, sexual desire and satisfaction of patients were poor. ► Sexual functions improved after surgery, but failed to attain control levels. ► Seizure-free and AED-free patients achieved a better sexual outcome. ► Sexual inadequacies of MTLE-HS patients often remain undetected.
