Hydroalcoholic extract of Zizyphus jujuba ameliorates seizures, oxidative stress, and cognitive impairment in experimental models of epilepsy in rats

► Anticonvulsant activity of hydroalcoholic extract of Zizyphus jujuba was evaluated in experimental models of seizures. ► Extract exhibited significant dose-dependent protection against PTZ-induced seizures, with 100% protection at 1000 mg/kg. ► The extract exhibited a protection of 66.7% against maximal electric shock-induced seizures at 1000 mg/kg. ► Pretreatment with the extract significantly improved memory. ► The extract also reversed the seizure induced increased oxidative stress.
