► Individual subject data from three rTMS trials in epilepsy were pooled and analyzed. ► rTMS placebo effect on median seizure frequency is estimated to be 0 -2%. ► Mean responder rate for placebo rTMS is 16 -20%. ► Results may inform future power analysis and trial design.
