Changes in extrafrontal integrity and cognition in frontal lobe epilepsy: A diffusion tensor imaging study

► DTI is used to study microstructural change and its relationship to cognition. ► The thalamus might be a potentially important extrafrontal structure involved in FLE. ► A longer duration of epilepsy might result in more abnormalities in the thalamus. ► Patients with FLE performed significantly worse on nearly all cognitive tasks. ► The left frontal lobe and thalamus may contribute to cognitive impairment in FLE.
