Olig1 function is required for remyelination potential of transplanted neural progenitor cells in a model of viral-induced demyelination

► Exogenous NPCs promote remyelination in a viral model of demyelination. ► The role of Olig1 in NPC-mediated remyelination was interrogated. ► Olig1 enhances NPC oligodendroglial commitment. ► The absence of Olig1 enhances differentiation of NPCs into astrocytes. ► Olig1 is required for optimal functional recovery following NPC transplantation.
